Redneck Weddings! Like Jackie Gleason Once Said “Hamana-hamana-hamana-hamana”!

Hi Everyone,

I know it’s been a while but inspiration and ups and downs. You get the picture! Well, I will just talk about the positive

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone is well and I want to thank you for reading this blog.  I have done over 50 posts it’s seems like yesterday when I did my first every post or blog for that matter.

I have a few things to get off my chest.

Acting wise:  A film that I did called Killers at Play won “Best Thriller” at the Amsterdam Film Festival this year.  I played Sara who gets set up by the killers when her husband gets killed as the couple try to move out of their hometown.   It is a horror flick and it was great working with a great director Larry DeGala and Don Hewitt as by husband.   I love working with all that blood (fake) and first time in a horror film.  It was cool.

“Beyond the Pale” a film I did back in 1999 “Wow”.  IMDb (International Movie Database)  considers it the top ten Irish films of all time available on Amazon we made #8 on the list.  I played a fast hooker chick but with a heart of gold.

I am in the middle of getting a webseries together “All About Manos”  its a dark comedy.  Stepbrothers meets Thelma & Louise I will be shooting hopefully in late fall.   And I am involved with a reality show called “It’s A Wrap” very cool show about wrapping cars that is in development.   I guess that is why I have not had time to get to my blog!!!  LOL

Redneck Weddings is doing good too.  I actually wrote three episodes and a whole package for pitching along with budgets stay tuned for this too I see up-coming opportunities in that department too.  I re-tooled the show and made it darker and with some drama to it.

“Redneck Weddings” the Music Video into a festival this past month “Art all Night” in Trenton NJ.  It was shown to thousands of people who attended the festival.  It is a 24 hour film and art festival with actual artists from all over the world displaying their art and film.    And the theme TV Song Redneck Weddings got a new version re-recorded by Rob Valle who wrote the song in twenty minutes. It so catchy! It has the fiddle and vocals that really make it so much more fuller than before.  It is also on itunes for purchase or just listen for the sample of it.   Gary Carter produced it and worked on it with Rob Valle. I got the best musicians in Nashville.  Gary Carter has worked with Pam Tillis, Faith Hill, Randy Travis and Kenny Chesney to name a few.  So honored and thrill to listen to knowing that I started from nothing.

Here is Rob Valle Website

Go on i-tunes then store/music  (In search)  type: Rob Valle and you will see it.

The last couple of months I have been working on a game show for the Game Show Network as a (stand-in) dry rehearsals but I got a chance to work with Billy Gardell from Mike and Molly!   What a nice guy and he was a stand up comedian for many years.  Well, he reminds me a little of Jackie Gleason. Bigger than life and he has a big heart.

Jackie Gleason at his best.

Here is a promo of the Show.  And if you look at this promo you can see me running down to play from my throne on set!

Redneck Weddings! Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Summer is almost over!  This year is going very fast.   Remember this 1980’s hit:

I wanted to send a “thank you” to all of the people who are following this blog.  It touches my heart!  I try to write from the heart because you can never go wrong with your heart and how you really feel.  When I started this blog which I had never done before I did not know how to do it but….. new worlds new challenges!

I love characters.  That is what makes writing so much fun.  God knows I have been with some characters in my life. I got this photo on my Facebook feed this morning and it kind of says it all.   I am always going through a lot of changes and some I like and the ones I don’t like I put up a fuss but then I move on.

letting things go. 2

And there are some good things to come.   My projects are moving ahead.    Redneck Weddings got accepted into another film festival for the pilot script at the Austin Revolution Film Festival one of only 12 that was accepted.  I got rejected by few others but that is OK.   Keep pressing on.    The music video the theme song  “Redneck Weddings” has been re-recorded and is on i-tunes.  With backup singers, Nashville talent and a Damm good fiddle.  Produced by Gary Carter who has worked with the best Randy Travis and Faith Hill to name a few.   The song Redneck Weddings written and sung my Rob Valle.

Rob Valle Website

The music video was shown at the Art All Night Film Festival and Event in Trenton in June.  That was awesome.

I am working on a webseries which I co-wrote with the wonderful Eden Young called “All About Manos”.  It’s about two high-school friends from New Jersey who take on Los Angeles in a funny way and about a more dark element “obsession”. Scripts have been written and we are going into pre-production.

I have found a few sites for writers and content producers such as and they are all free.

Well let me get back to work!

Happy Labor Day Weekend.

Be Safe!

Redneck Weddings New Year Promo Launched!

Happy New Year to All!

I am moving forward with my show Redneck Weddings! After 53 posts and hopefully counting it has been quite a trip. I can’t mention anything official right now but I am hopeful that the new year would bring some amazing results. With that said I am growing as an artist and even when I fumble and get insecure LOL I just try to avoid those self – doubts and jump in and see what is at the bottom!!!

As a new Year gift I created a new promo for my show Redneck Weddings that I wanted to share with you. It is hip-hop meets country vibe but I think it has a new twist those of you who have seen the video Redneck Weddings that we did over a year ago will see that this show can combine country music with an edge.

Please enjoy and share it with your friends and family.

Going forward!

Redneck Weddings! My Influences in Comedy and Sketch Comedy!

I have been doing improv for quite sometime LOOK AT MY FACE RIGHT. Even now, when I audition can you improv? Yeah, sure why not.   Way back about hundred years ago when I was teen I had a gig with Planned Parenthood it was one of my first jobs!  Basically, I worked with a improv group that would go to schools and talk to teens about life, peer pressure and being responsible.  That was first acting job or improv gig!

Max it magazine catherine shot

Here is a list of basic improv that you should remember and what I learned!

Say Yes and, always after Yes add  (new information), Avoid Questions, Location and the Details and never block doing the opposite of saying “yes” and last but not least RELATIONSHIP and WHO you are!

Later, I would end up doing improv in acting class to loosen up and learn to listen and to be quick on my feet and after studying at Second City I really appreciate the masters.  At Second City one of the exercise’s was:  we would stand in two’s face each other and quickly establish what I just mentioned above within one minute without the other person knowing anything before hand.

My influences growing up were  Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, Jim Belushi the one and only Robin Williams. Robin’s passing left us all in shock and he left us way too soon.

Robin Williams On his star in Los Angeles.

I began to think couple of days ago what that meant the “influences”.   We tend to take it for granted that they somehow will be with us forever a friend who we can laugh with.

Robin Williams allow and created a space for the unusual and the quirky with his influence in comedy sitcom’s today and stand-up are forever changed and his wonderful character work in Mrs. DoubtFire to Goodwill Hunting and Night of the Museum will last generations to come.

Crowned Queen

I also realized that his comedy influenced me as an actress but also as a writer because without his genius and many like him before I would have not had the courage to write “Redneck Weddings”.

To be able to create bold characters and the off- center-ness and the sketch tone in my comedy pilot, because of them I had the freedom to go there! Without the Greats, leading the way and making it acceptable to be freaky or out there or just reflect real life the world would be a lot different and may I add TV would have been a lot different too!

Bless Gary Marshall,  one of the producers that created Mork & Mindy to see Robin’s Gift an let him be able to do his thing!

Even talk show hosts were influenced by Robin, Richard, Jim the whole industry for that matter.

Old TV Set

Jimmy Fallon honoring Robin Williams on the Johnny Carson Show.

Blues Brothers:

It will be interesting to see who comes up ten years from now and what new trend of comedy will endure but like what Marlon Brando did for film acting Robin, Jim and Richard did for comedy. They took us to places and characters that we all knew and gave us a slice of life and that is why it was so funny!

All I can say, they must be having one big party in the sky!

They made their mark!

May you all rest in peace.

Redneck Weddings…..Happy 4th of July! My Grandfather

I wanted to wish everyone a happy 4th of July! Sometimes I like to go off course regarding my show Redneck Weddings and write about what moves me and who I am. Here is an American Story of my Grandfather….

I love my country and I am proud to be an American. I have been to Europe although very beautiful nothing is like this country.

Here is my story.

On both sides of my family, my grandparents came here on a boat for a better life. My parents were the first generation to be born in America.

My only grandparent that I remember, since they all passed before I was born was my father’s father Francesco he was proud to have come to this country. Back in the old country his opportunities were bleak his only chance was to be a farmer and live off the land. He was poor back then and with no formal education he was stuck. So, as a young man of 19 years old he embarked in a journey for a better life in his pocket was his ticket and a few lira that he exchange to American silver dollars which I still have back in 1906.

Being the only provider he worked the bridges and tunnels, the work was dangerous and he would tell stories of how men lost their lives to build those tunnels and bridges that people now just drive through.

Photo of the lincoln tunnel being built.

He learned how to read and write english, learn how to type, read as many books as he could to improve himself, he enlisted into the Army (World War 1) and went back to Europe as an American Solider and was first stationed in Chicago where lived and learn to speak Polish. Later he would own real estate, get in the food business, and own land and with six kids in tow he would still grow his own food on his land. He would remind his children like all Italians that work ethic and education was very important.

As a little girl I remember sitting on his knee reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America with him. I would see him march in a parade on July 4th waving the American Flag.

So, as a little girl my memories of 4th of July go way beyond the fireworks and cookouts. It is the memory of my Grandfather and the pride he had thought out his life of being an American.

God Bless!

Redneck Weddings got it’s debut at the Hoboken International Film Festival. It was my first experience as a Filmmaker/Creator being accepted at a festival. Out of 1500 entries only 150 were selected and only 14 TV pilots were chosen.

So, it was a big deal for everyone involved with Redneck Weddings!

I had a blast to say the least.

Here are some photos of my time in Middletown NY. Yes Middletown NY not Hoboken NJ. You see they had a fire at a theatre in Hoboken the festival Director Kenneth Del Vechicco was shooting a film up in Middletown and decided to hold the festival there! The Paramount Theatre is a beautiful theatre Redneck Weddings was shown in the big theatre. I was 50 feet tall!!!

Burt Young was honored at the festival among other celebrities that came out! It was quite a week.

Redneck Weddings! The Debut at the Hoboken International Film Festival

On June 1st Redneck Weddings will have its Debut at the Hoboken International Film Festival at the Paramount Theatre. A beautiful big theatre like the old days the screen is at least 30 feet high it seems.

Moi the Creator and Writer is excited and nervous with all the parties and gala included this is something that I am not use too. I have already tried on about 20 different dresses and nothing fits right.

I have to say there is a lot of prep that goes on getting your project ready for the press and world. Postcards, business cards and press kits & Posters. I sent a huge one because I do everything big for the lobby.

Anyone out there who is trying to get ready for a film festival press kits are very important and a useful tool for the press to have a quick understanding of the project and information that they would not have about you and your project.

Luckily, I have the artwork already and synopsis but you need short, medium and long synopsis along with all of your photo and describing yourself. Ugh. Behind the scenes photos of the shoot with crew and cast. Let me dig that out from hard drive!

10 or more facts about your project along with a sample interview of you just talking about yourself.

I wanted to share some links with all of you and photos.

I will try to shoot with my phone some video behind the scenes at the festival if possible.

Wish me luck. Maybe we will get movement or some press for Redneck Weddings and a cable home wouldn’t that be something.

Redneck Weddings! Gets into the Hoboken International Film Festival May 30th to June 5th

Hi Everyone,

I have been busy with so many things and as I write on my blog I don’t know where to start.   Ha!  I want to thank everyone who continues to share this blog and follow it.  People say that I have a lot of passion, drive and heart I have learned that when you follow your heart you can never go wrong in anything that you tried to accomplish.  I know that sounds corny but sometimes what your parents or grandparents tell you it never goes out of fashion.  I guess I am an old soul.  I like old music I think I wrote about that on another post that Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra is what I like to hear.  It brings me back to my childhood and my memory of my Godmother and may I say my Mother who use to sing those songs back in the day.  My mother was my biggest fan and always encouraged me to continue even when things seem bleak.    I am so use to “No” that when something good happens I get like “Wow” this is happening to me?   So, as I ramble now I remember now what I wanted to tell you…

I guess you can now call me a published writer.  I am on a new online magazine called No Strings Attached. This online magazine is getting some great attention.  It’s about everything, travel, entertainment, News stories etc.    If you like my commentary I know you will like these two articles.  It’s great fun to write and they also say write what you know.  There are two subjects that I love acting and my dog Athena.

Here are some links:

A film that I worked on as an actress called Wheels got accepted into the Newport Beach Film Festival this past month.

Here is the trailer:

I also want to let you know that the Hoboken International Film Festival has accepted my TV Pilot Redneck Weddings.  Like Sally Field’s once said as she accepted her Oscar “They like me they like me they REALLY Like ME!”  It is under TV Pilots.  Hoboken International Film Festival is one of the top ten festivals in the USA.   The festival is May 30th to June 5th.   This will mark the debut for Redneck Weddings at a film festival.  It is in the running to be voted a nominee for best TV Pilot!  Let’s hope.

The screening will be on June 1st at 4 pm at the Paramount Theatre in Middletown NY.  So, anyone out there who would like to see it on the big screen feel free to come on by.  Tickets are very reasonable cheaper than a movie.

So there you go.
